Strolls in Bordeaux
The art of living in the heart of the Quinconces
You don’t just visit Bordeaux; you experience it. For this first entry in our Journal, we invite you to follow in the footsteps of our guests and discover our vision of a perfect day, just minutes from our private mansion. Blending heritage landmarks, hidden gems, and the gentle pace of life, here is our ideal itinerary for a luxury stay in Bordeaux.
Morning: Awakening the senses - architecture and fine pastry
The sun rises over the Place des Quinconces, bathing the rostral columns in golden light. After a gentle start to the day in the quiet of your room, the adventure begins at the Grand Théâtre. Just a five-minute walk from the Maison, this 18th-century masterpiece commands attention with its majestic presence.
For epicureans, the journey continues to the Grands Hommes district. This is where the city’s finest shop windows are tucked away. Our insider tip? Stop by an artisan chocolatier on Rue de la Porte Dijeaux or enjoy a coffee break in an intimate tea room, soaking up the hushed, elegant atmosphere of Bordeaux’s "Golden Triangle."
Afternoon: Exclusive culture and a wine merchant’s secret
After a light lunch on the terrace, head to the CAPC (Museum of Contemporary Art), housed in magnificent former colonial warehouses. The interplay between the stone architecture and modern artworks is striking.
Since Bordeaux is inseparable from its vineyards, an exceptional stay wouldn't be complete without a tasting. Far from the crowded tourist trails, we love guiding our guests to the secret cellars of the Chartrons district. There, a private sommelier will introduce you to exclusive *Gruss Classés* (classified growths) and local gems you won't find anywhere else.
End of the Day: Returning to a Haven of Peace
After exploring the city’s cobblestone streets, the bustle of Bordeaux fades away the moment you step into the Hôtel des Quinconces. The end-of-day ritual is a constant: a bespoke aperitif, enjoyed in the comfort of our secluded, lush garden. A moment suspended in time, soothed by the rustle of leaves, before turning your thoughts to dinner.
A Note from the Hotel: As availability is very limited for private vineyard tours and the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants, our concierge team is at your complete disposal to arrange your reservations as soon as your stay is confirmed.
